640 weapon sights aren't coming out until 2020. We're more likely to see a 640 Boson in a monocular before a weapon sight. I talked to some top tier dude at Flir and this is what was conveyed to me.

Although I haven't run into issues personally with Flir (and I have had to send my PTS233 back to get fixed), the overwhelming consensus that their customer service is shit is pretty damning. I was on the fence about a mkii and wanted to find out when Flir's 640 Boson weapon sights were coming out and that's the info I got. Notoriety trending up.

Man I know it fucking stings but you gotta relax. Tnvc should be sending in Winston Wolf directly. I had an issue with a Reap and they jumped on IRD on my behalf and got shit done. I’ve had problems with all of the major thermal brands and was slavering fucking mad at all of them. It doesn’t do any good. You bought from Tnvc for this reason. If they don’t fix this up for you something is fubar. View Quote We're not some dealer who just started carrying FLIR in the last 2 years and profess this or that now that they carry them. We are still (only 2 or 3 out there) DIRECT Distribution govy channel partners as well for FLIR's Govy line of kit. |

I got the unit from TNVC and I've already sent an email. Tnvc has taken care of me in the past and I'm sure the will take care of me again. I reformatted and it seems to have at least made it somewhat usable. I guess I'm going to have to carry a laptop every night I go hunting and reformat it every time it won't turn on. Who did you buy the pts223 from? They can’t run any interference for you? Flir looks like they are majorly shitting the bed on cs when they could have been heroes and unfucked Armasight. Also to note, the FLIR San Fran office is closed up and everything getting moved up north, and also Santa Barbara, Tempe and Nashua NH. I know there has been some delays with CS comms. Either way, our bat phone is still up. |

Here's to hoping that TNVC's solution is sending this guy a new PTS233, and dumping the shitty one back on Flir. I know that's what my dealer would do.

Strategic marketing is what I got it of it. To be fair, the dude I talked to wanted to just come out with the 640s right out the gate and totally skip the 320s. But bc they did come out with the 320s, they want their product to sell. Even the way they rolled out the 320 weapon sights seemed like strategic marketing. So it's probably not wise to push a 640 Boson weapon sight just a few months after releasing their trio of 320s. Sucks for us consumers, but I guess that's business. Just saw a notice in another thread about some FLIR email addresses no longer being valid after the San Fran office closure.
It recommended trying [email protected] - might be worth a try! |

I do know the move outta SanFran has caused some delays as they just closed the facility and getting re-org'd. I can inquire either way Monday to see where its all at.

Sheeze! So they're just going to skip 2019 altogether? I'm wondering if this is a marketing ploy? Or is this related to Boson developmental problems? View Quote We've kinda been through all this before, it's a combination of many factors. One set of factors is that FLIR is primarily a government supplier and the Federal Acquisition Rules is a book that is literally 3 inches thick. Wonder why the Armasight website and product line in still completely in tact? Guarantee you it's because they have long running contracts with the government and the government is not allowed to purchase product that is known end-of-life. If nothing else, hundreds of millions of dollars in option years could be cancelled. As for Boson 640, blah, blah, there's no technical hurdle preventing them from coming out with whatever 640 based consumer products they want. But depressing their own price market will affect the above. Government is equally always on the hunt for making sure they get the lowest price. The contract officers who make those decisions would't know a thermal weapon sight from Hello Kitty. Again, it's been said a dozen times in this thread. Frankly here we are a couple years later and what we predicted has come to pass, in fact more so. 2020 now? I'll bet money that 2020 is the same timeframe a major set of contract recompetes or a timeline that better fits their accounting. I popped back into this thread because I was just thinking about how thermal technology seems to have stalled (including Pulsar and Trijicon) and wanted to know if FLIR has had any breakthroughs. Unfortunately with such purchases it is critical to assess how important the consumer division is to the overall company. Maybe I've answered my own question. Here's their latest analyst presentation: http://investors.flir.com/static-files/3ae114e0-c860-41f4-af35-90658fbffdd8 OTS is not even a blip on their radar. Also, looking at their income statements, they are clearly having to deal with losses related to the discontinuous of operations from Armasight and their old product lines. In the GAAP accounting world you don't just blow all that stuff out the door and call it a wash. If you have a major shift in the value of your inventory the Street holds you accountable for that. (If your inventory is a major asset it affects the valuation of your company). Here's another little "oopsie": a $15M fine from the Department of State for violating export rules. No idea if FLIR was guilty or if DoS just needed some extra cash (and don't think for a second that doesn't happen), but the point is that companies like FLIR are bound by a million things far more critical than their consumer line of products: https://www.state.gov/r/pa/prs/ps/2018/04/281211.htm -Stooxie |

The fact that he doesn't have anything positive to say about future Flir CS speaks volumes. These products simply have higher failure rates than daytime optics. Choosing a company with an excellent CS reputation is as important as the features of the scopes themselves. That being said, who you buy from is important as well. TNVC has done a good job from what I can see of running interference for its customers. Props for that. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

Even with current firmware 2360 the breach compass is near impossible to calibrate. And when calibrated it is completely worthless as a compass. Anyone else have this issue?
