That was around 105 yards on 8x if I remember correctly. I'm blown away everytime I turn that thing on!

1st gen cascade.

Testing out a laser in the basement with a small amount of light coming in around the window curtain.
Attachment Attached File

Very dark out in this picture.  I'm constantly surprised how well this tube does. The lights on the fence are small solar LED lights.  In a few weeks I will be able to compare it to a 3rd gen tube.

Damn cool! Looks like a video game...

Argus D740 Gen 3. Pics do not even begin to do it justice. Looking through the eyepiece, the image obliterates my PVS-14 (Gen3) and my MUM14 (early Gen3)

I bet you will still be as surprised when you get your Gen3. Gen1 cascade blew me away even though I had experience of Gen1 (single tube), Gen2 and Gen3. And it was an old Soviet 1PN58. Superb light amplification despite it's age.

Yeah, I’m not likely to ever get into cooled array stuff (or even fusion, though the Night Optics USA digital NVG/Thermal Fusion device interests me), barring winning the lotto.

Not very good pics of either.  First one is a 1st gen cascade the second is a filmless PVS14.  New moon with starlight.  The light in the woods is a campfire that you can just barely see with the naked, night adapt eye.

That's a damn impressive setup you have there overall! Meaning tube, and optics and the camera setup. The pictures are almost perfect edge to edge and amazed how sharp the images are even when the moonlight reflects from those waves. I have a hunch a Gen3 WP (filmless too to be fair) would struggle in that scenario. Not that you'd need NODs in that specific case anyway, but yeah, awesome!

PVS-14 or Ether eyepiece?

As long as it works, MUCH better than the $150ish one I was going to order from TNVC.  I love you guys, but that is a LOT for a glorified clamp.

True, maybe my English came out worded poorly. I meant that comparing to a filmless Gen3 WP the Photonis tube would probably look better in that ocean scene.

Just got mine yesterday.  Doesn't want to grip the tube like, at all.  The arms are too short and the fact the eyepiece protrudes for diopter adjustment isn't helping.  Any tips?  I guess I could get it loosely fit up, tighten to just before it pops out, and tape the shit out of it...

When I initially got mine I also felt the eyepiece didn’t go in far enough to get the device to tighten up enough to hold it. It does, trust me. Just make sure you hold it so it’s straight and flat and keep tightening it.

As far as the arms are you talking about the ones that hold the phone?

Edit. I have the amazon one and it works great. I wonder if the one from Walmart is different enough to not work very well.

No, I mean the optic arms.  They don't extend far enough to get ahold of the body, but there isn't enough space on the protruding edge of the optic to get purchase there either.  I can use it as a stabilizing/aligning tool, but I still have to hold both the phone and the monocular.

The amazon picture looks identical to what I have in hand from walmart.

Idk what to tell you. It's not the tightest connection but it holds my stuff together. I still hold the mod 3 and phone when shooting

If I was shooting through a telescope, I'd be all over that.  But for iPhone pics of a dead hog, ehh, it's literally ten times more expensive.  I see $60.  I don't see $160.  I get a new one for free every time I break the Amazon one.

Even if I end up buying the amazon one and it doesn't work either, I'm still not crying at $22 vs. $160.  I just can't justify spending that on something that frankly is a minor convenience that I'll use a handful of times just to post pictures here, really.

Also, what on earth made that image in the post above?

iPhone panoramic I’m guessing.

And I agree. The $25 evolva t20 from amazon has held up for years for me. Granted, not hard core use but not babies either. Tnvc has a lot of stuff worth the price of admission. I can’t agree that this is one of them though. Professional use........yeah.....ok. I’d bite for that.
