Any knowledgeable gun shops in Houston to do a pre-purchase inspection/verification on an M60?  The seller is in Houston and I'm not.

TIA

You should try Tactical Firearms out in Katy.

You could try Collector's Firearms if the other options don't pan out.

But what do y'all know about m60s?  No offense meant to Chris and I don't know the rest of those guys . . .

The problem with the m60 is that the pig has receiver stretch and tolerance issues.  The receivers need to be gaged or measured.

I would try to get in touch with mongo as he is a true MG expert.

I would post this question on sturm and subguns and start there.

we had a couple of them

and bought and sold a few as well......

OP, hope your purchase goes well and I hope someone can help you who cares about you getting a very smooth running gun as much as I do.

Edit: I 've heard of you.......

you used to work at Houston Armory. You were the attorney that got fired....

Fired . . . ROFL.  I never worked there.  I officed there for a few months. Bill and I had differences and parted ways not overly amicably.  But that's long ago and water far under the bridge.   Unlike you and your crew who worked for Houston armory and were fired.   Since you want to go there.

Like I said, just because you saw an m60 doesn't mean you are qualified to inspect one.   But if you want to start some crap . . . . Btw. I called Chris the other day to say hello.  Never heard back from him.

You may be qualified to discuss hK and fn and long range but I question your knowledge of m60s.

ETA.  My differences with HA ended long ago.   I have recommended some of their products as they fit the mission of my trust clients and customers   But I will call it as I see it and if rock doesn't like it, he can call.  He has my number.  I don't have his name or number.

I'm pretty sure all of the dealers listed in this thread do not have the expertise that you require. I suggest that you read this set of articles at this link first. It takes a specialized set of gauges to correctly evaluate a M60 receiver as to its condition. I know of no one in Houston that works on M60s that has the proper gauge sets.

I can recommend several Class 3 gunsmiths that can adequately perform any maintenance and inspection on M60s but none are located in Houston area.
