If this is nuts, that's fine.
I want to know if there is an M203 launcher I can mount to my AR that is a 12 gauge shotgun.
Mainly it's for Zombies that crept up on me while doing mag changes!

The 37mm flare launchers have a 12ga adapter for shotgun flares only. still wouldnt help you.

I think there is also a coneshaped adapter that holds 50 or more rounds of .22LR

Pay close attention to this.

They are not designed to shoot the higher pressure slugs/shot rounds - and if you WERE to make an adapter that could handle such rounds you'be be looking at a Federal Offense (NFA violation).

But, wasn't he asking about the M203...as in 40mm DD item?

I think he means a 12 ga shotgun that LOOKS like an M203.

Thanks for your concern, but I knew exactly what I was asking about.
M203, as in the military issue...
I am wondering if that style of launcher is available as a 12 gauge (real ammo) accessory.
I don't care about tax stamps etc. I was just asking if something like that is possible.
Hmmm, reading my original post it looks pretty clear, but I hope this one makes it even more clear.

you are contadicting yourself. A M203 is military designation for only a grenade launcher nothing else. I have seen a mount that will attach a 12 guage  (without a stock) to your 6 o'clock rail

I assume this can launch flares only?

eta:  Disregard, that's a 40mm and not 37.

Nope, 12ga buckshot if ya want.

Your DD registration would cover it (as a non-sporting firearm over .5")

But the 40mm buckshot round is the better way to go for zombies.

Cartridge, 40mm, Multiple Projectile (Buckshot), M576

FM 3-22.31: M576
Though it is a multipurpose round, it is most effective in thick vegetated areas or for room clearing. Inside it has at least 20 pellets, which travel at 882 feet per second (269 mps). Be sure to aim buckshot rounds at the foot of the target. The round has no mechanical-type fuse.

This round is dark to light green in color with white markings

The SEALS used this in Vietnam.  I took this picture at the seal museum in Florida this year on vacation.  It is, for all intents, a 203 shotgun.  Pump action 40mm grenade launcher.

12ga adapters are very common for 40mm.  The seller of the adapter in the gunbroker link above (Destiny) is a great gal!  Buy with confidence in any of her auctions.  She knows her stuff.  These 12ga adapters CAN shoot normal 12ga rounds.  Oh, the grenade launcher will still be a DD, not an SBS.

12ga adapters are commercially available for 37mm flare launchers as well, however, MOST of these will not accept a normal 12ga round and will only accept flare rounds.  Even you have one machined out to accept a normal 12ga round, you would run into 2 problems.   First, you just committed a felony if your 37mm launcher is not a registered DD which might not matter at the time because you would be too concerned with stopping the bleeding from the launcher not being able to handle the pressure.  THat being said, I shoot 20ga (buck, slugs, shot, etc..) out of my REGISTERED 37mm launcher all the time.  It does eat at my barrel latch a little, but the ole mig welder takes care of it.

Beehives are great.  There are a couple of different models available (neither shoots 50 rounds as stated earlier).

Would those behive rounds be considered a machinegun conversion? As I understand it, you get 18 .22LRs to go off with 1 pull of the M203 trigger since the 203's firing pin actuates 18 firing pins that strike the primers on the individual rounds. Isn't a machine gun defined as more than 1 round per trigger pull.

Randy's been selling them for a very long time and trust me, He isn't a "walk the line" type of guy when it comes to being legal.  I don't know if he got a letter or what but apparently they are not a problem.  I'm sure it has something to do with it not being a "repeater".  It's more like a shotgun shell shooting .22cal shot.  Just a guess.  Randy has good CS, if your interested, you might shoot him an email to make you feel better.

Yes. Sounds like a hornets nest. Not sure how many flechettes are in there, but it looks like quite a few.

I don't own a 203, I've been toying with the idea of a 40mm on and off. The concept of more than one round per pull just sounded a little F/A to me.
