What a strange gun. I found one a little while ago that is not an arsenal rebuild or import marked. Damn I remember when these were under $100.....

OOooH! I love the patina on that one! that has some character!.... Sold one to my my buddy that my pop had bought for $80 when they were cheap as a refurb, and he was thrilled (sale price was free for him). I warned him about the double action heaviness and he was still astonished as to how bad it was....In single action, he was getting around 4 to 5 inches at 15 yards... He was happy with that!

I have some of that surplus ammo and I have never shot mine with it. I have read it is more powerful than commercial stuff.

Had one for a while. Interesting pistol, a bit odd. Played with for a bit and then got bored with it. Sold it and don’t miss it

I appreciate it for the history and the wacky design.

Back when they were $90-$120 I considered grabbing one several different times when I came across one but never decided to go for it.

Having no reasonable source of cheap ammo and no easy way to reload kind of turned me off along with the fact that they are hardly shootable what with the nasty trigger.

I know there are ways to find ammo but it is never easy and pretty pricey.

My thing with guns is to get the ones I can have fun shooting.

Now the prices have gone up I could care less.

Some of you folks will tell me I am wrong .

I picked one up shortly after the Newtown shooting... being I felt guns were going to be flying off shelves in the aftermath. Hand-select was $119.95. Also have a can of ammo for it, as well.

It is definitely a unique gun. I have been tempted to have it threaded so I could suppress it, but not too sure on it. I wish there was a good book on them, with info regarding threaded models. I’d likely do it in a common thread pitch to use a generic suppressor... but I’d want it to be somewhat “correct.”

Pretty nice non refurbished, non import marked example. Worth several times more than the far more common import marked refurbs one commonly sees in the U.S.

I need to get on there and see what they are going for. I may have to sell the one I have, I haven't shot it in quite a while.

Edit -- Wow, looks like they are $350+ Looks like mine is going up in Gunbroker soon.

They real cool ones are the SAO models for WW1. Really hard to find them original still in SAO. Most all of them were converted to DAO for WW2.

That is why I bought it. It, to me, is an example of an unmolested relic. No stupid fucking import mark.

When I worked at a small gun shop we had a customer who bought 3 or 4 and a crate of ammo. He made a smart move it turns out.

I agree. Last year I found a non refurb, non import, matching SAO 1911 Tula Nagant in a local pawn shop for less than refurbs were selling for and I snapped it up.

I picked up a couple of them when they were under $100. Took one last year and had Adco thread the barrel. Sounds good with the full length brass, 3.5 gr. of bullseye and a 115 gr. bullet sized to .309.

Never liked them much , but an interesting piece.

Fun little curiosity. Surplus ammo is definitely loaded hotter than commercial

A friend bought one when they first came on the scene here. I think it was Numrich Gun Parts in New York that he purchased a new cylinder chambered in .32 acp from. I was lucky enough to shoot the .32 acp cylinder a few times and wished I had bought one. It was a fun little gun to shoot as odd as it is. My friend seemed to like the unusual when it came to guns back then. Webley top break revolvers with birds head grips with a .45 caliber chambering, Webley top break in .38 caliber, RIC revolver chamber unknown to me, H&R top break chambered in .32 S&W, a Lebel bolt action carbine just to name a few. It is a relic from those times before the 1911 and High Powers of JMB.

I remember when they were under $100 but ammo was non existent or expensive. Now ammo is everywhere and prices on the pistol are outrageous

. The 91/30 and M44 are getting pretty crazy on their pricing also. Still have the 2 M44's that I got for $99 a piece and 91/30 for $75 shipped to my door

I remember when SOG had them for $29 for several years. The issue of being under powered and the ammo situation was a turnoff. I should have realized then that the supply was finite and just bought a bunch as investments like I did with my 91/30's, M-44's and M-38's.

Wish I had bought 2 or 3 nicer ones or earlier dates back then.

I picked up a 1941 tula, I think, from Century Arms for maybe $59 as way to hit some purchase amount to save on shipping on other items lol. Glad I did.

Dude that is cool as hell. I would love to find one not returned. I bought four when they were cheap and made a ton selling three. Never thought they could go to. We used to joke I had a double dueling set
