Its real.  The scallops in the receiver are hard to fake.

A quick gunbroker search and prices are 600ish to 900ish.

$500 would be a good deal if in good condition and numbers matching.

Even better... Based on the minimalist "England" import mark, that's one of the early imports, which are generally in better shape than the newer imports.

As stated, anything under $600ish is a good deal.  Under $450ish is an excellent deal.

Not sure what I missed, but Feel free to nitpick,

I've already found one glaring issue with it that was the result of non ftr grade repair,  as early as the gun was it's seen some regimental level repairs at least once (I suspect twice)

At what I paid for it it would be a steal even if it was a fake 308 converted no1 cutdown

The serial number is correct, the parts that can be seen that are different, seem correct to.
