I believe you need to tell them what branch and when you served. I'm normally not above using whatever discount code I can get my hands on; this one I'm going to leave to people with tanks under their names. |

In my experience, they read every comment put in the comment box when placed online. I wouldn't hesitate to just "mention the ad" when ordering from them. They respond to every comment (by email), I have ever placed. If they do miss the comment, they will no doubt refund the $25. |

Saw this in the EE (not my ad nor do I know the seller) but an Arisaka grenade launcher has to be a pretty rare item to come across, hope someone here can use it!:

That's a fair market price and I want a 1951 but I can't bring myself to pay $250 for one when Classic has Glocks in better shape for $280. C&R handguns really seem to bring a significant premium than they would sell for if they weren't C&R.

Just got the weekly AIM e-mailer. They are selling Yugoslavian M48s/M48As:
M48 I remember when these were around $250. Should have bought one then..... |

Are there better deals out there for a M48? SOG has them... cheaper. I got a hand pick a couple months ago. Very good to excellent condition. Very happy with it. I don't know much about these. SOG lists it as M48A's. I just ordered one because it's pretty. They also have other variations of the M48's. |

I got a pristine M48A from SOG during their holiday sale last year for $200. They may do that sale again this year.

Are there better deals out there for a M48? Classic had them listed but was out. SOG still has them showing in stock. Check their price too. I bought a 24/47 from a LGS a few years ago for $250. Rifle was FULL of cosmoline on the inside, spotless on the outside. Looked like someone got it, wiped down the outside, and placed it in their safe. I don't think it was even fired. After a thorough cleaning I had a great shooter on my hands. I saw these M48s and thought one would make a nice compliment to the 24/47, but I'm holding off for now. Does anyone know if SOG will sell to someone without a C&R or FFL if they run the transaction through their local FFL- like AIM or Classic or J&G do? |
|
|
For what its worth I have a Yugo m48 I bought from a LGS years ago. Forgot how much I paid for it. Most, if not all of them will look brand new and covered in cosmoline if recently imported and no one has used them stateside yet. These guns were basically built then put straight into storage by Yugoslavia. No idea why they did this. They were obsolete when they were manufactured. I've seen many of these guns over the years and they all look cherry.
They are a great buy if you want to shooter milsurp gun. Fairly plentiful, basically brand new old stock gun. Should provide years of fun. I've taken mine deer hunting several times. I've found that a slip on recoil pad is helpful, not necessarily for the recoil, but to keep that damp polished buttplate from slipping out of your shoulder. Not sure how soldiers shot those things and kept em in place. Remember that most milsurp 8mm is corrosive and to clean with windex / soap and water after every shooting session if you are shooting surplus. Hate to rust out a basically brand new gun before it needs to be. |

Gander Mountain has what looks like the Yugo M59/66 SKS's with ammo pouch, cleaning kit and sling priced at $399. While supplies last. This is the Gander Mountain Black Friday ad I received in my local newspaper yesterday 11/24. Not really an SKS guy, just throwing it out for those who might be interested and maybe those who want to "hand select" their own firearm.
Happy Thanksgiving to All Hking |

Me too, we shall see how bad the handles are. Now for ideas for replacing those deteriated cocking handle parts? Wood, aluminum, plastic, common washers or nuts?
I found some replacement bolt plastic parts for the 1911 Schmidt-Rubin on sale on eBay at about $17 with shipping. |

Well, if you missed out on the X-grade Swiss 1911, AIM has X-grade Swiss 96/11 rifles for $199. They'll probably go fast too.

Luckily I got my.y order in too!

Thanks!
I got my order in. Too good a deal to pass up. as of this message posted time. there are 24 x grade 96/11 left at Aims. |
|
|
Ordered one as well. I have never ordered an X grade before but from the description is sounds like a well used but fully functional rifle. What can I expect? |
|
|
Still available - just ordered one.
If the handle is really bad, I'll just shape a piece of Delrin to replace it with. |
|
|
I got my x- grade 1911 Schmidt Rubin today. The knobs were off the gun with the screw, the nut was missing. I could not find a nut with the proper pitch, so I replaced the screw too. The knobs appeared to be new reproductions. The rifle is a fine shooter grade.

I just picked up my X grade 1911 and 96/11. The 1911 was made in 1915. Its in good shape. Minor crack in the bolt knob. The metal finish is pretty worn. Also has a tag under the butt.
The 96/11 was made in 1899. The pistol grip is loose and need to be re-glued back on. Metal is kinda rusty. What kind of glue should i use to fix the stock? |

Tempted to order a Mosin at that price... just to see what all the fuss is about.
Am I going to regret going with the round receiver instead of the hex receiver? I recall a shooting buddy saying his hex receiver was a better built rifle. |
