I found this byf 42 Luger at my local pawn shop today. All matching except the mags. It came with the gxy 42 holster. Seems in very sound condition.

The interesting thing was when I went to clean it I found the name/service # of the LT that brought it back (I guess) burnt into one of the grip scales. Adds nothing to it but it's sort of a neat little extra to find. I obscured the name/service# a bit in the pic to protect his ID. I'll get around to looking it up by and by.

What I know about Lugers will fit on a head of a pin so if anyone sees any "warts" let me know.

Let me guess, you paid 500 bucks or so?

Great piece, you must have good pawn shops around there. Nothing but junk around here.

It was in Hitler's pencil box.

I gave $352.00 OTD for it.

Unfortunately my knowledge of Lugers is smaller than yours, so I can't help.

I can only join the others in saying "Nice Score!"

All I can offer is look at this website http://www.simpsonltd.com/ for your research and consider contacting them.  I have seen them at CADA (Collector Arms Dealers Association) shows and they bring a lot of Lugers.

I posted it on Jan C Still Luger boards and found out a lot. My Luger seems a honest example.

Heck there is a lot to learn just about a Luger combo tool. Tons of fakes out there. Even the file marks on them when they did the final shaping of the tool means something.

Holy shit!

You keep this crap up and I'm going to have to put you on my ignore list mister!

+1 to whoever said his pawnshops are full of junk. Around here it's rusted hand tools, beat to crap power tools and what guns there are are all well used and over priced.

Wow, you sure seem to have some clueless pawn shops in your area! Between this and your Reichspost K98, you are winning big time.

You must live in an area where only you have internet because every single acquisition you get is an amazing deal.

I have the time to cultivate relationships at the local LGSs and pawn shops but it always does not work out.

One LGS has a 1936 Tula Tokerov that I just can't seem to talk them down on.
