Well, the 1911 I ordered from Simpsons Ltd., and arrived last Saturday.  The 96/11 Arrived about 6:30 this evening from AIM

Top rifle, the 1911, is all matching, no troop tag, new looking bolt knob, and a very nice tiger stripe stock.  Has a ZURICH arsenal mark on the heel of the butt:

Bottom rifle, the 96/11, was not a handpick from AIM, all matching, has nice tiger stripe in it as well, has a troop tag, and a very clear LUZERN on the heel of the butt.  it also has a new replacement bolt knob.

Pics of bolt knobs, are the Swiss replacing these, or the importers??

1911 butt mark:

96/11 LUZERN mark:

96/11 troop tag:

Family pic, minus one K31 which is still in the safe, and Mauser the Mil-surp cat

Awesome!  The two I ordered from Simpsons never showed up today at the FFLs shop. FedEx kept changing arrival dates. Probably weather related. I'll have to wait until Tuesday

Sax, your tabby looks identical to the stray I just took in. Nice cat, but he would rather sit outside in the cold than come in.

Sounds like the little guy is being cautious; hasn't begun to trust you yet.

The tabby in my picture we have had since he was born; so he is almost dog like.. its creepy.

Talking of cats that act like dogs.  The cat in my pic, Mauser is more dog than cat.  Hell, I had those rifles out in in the floor, I called him, he ran in, laid down for the pic, I took it and he got up and left

Lol..isn't that the truth!! I've bought 5 guns in ten days. You and Hansellhd have been responsible for some of this, by the way, with all of those awesome photos you guys keep posting (thank you). Also inspired me to start taking some pics of the collection.

Not sure what it is about the Swiss 1911, but its just a damn sexy rifle. I'm usually partial to carbines!

One of the advantages of buying from Simpson Ltd.   I picked that 1911 because of that striping, only bad part is it was one that didn't have a sling, which is another $40 if I want one.

Now the 96/11 was total luck of the draw from AIM.

Love my 96/11. Bought it in about 1999 at Indianapolis gunshow $140. Has a lot of use (character) but really like it. Sling is Swedish.

It loves Norma 200 gr Moly coated match ammo.

Luzern is the canton where the rifle came from. The number on the stock is not the serial number.
