Gentlemen––

I don't have $600 to spend on an original French military scope––can anyone recommend a more modestly-priced scope to go with a KVAR mount?

I'd love to get something compact which would still allow me to use stripper clips, if possible.

Range-finding reticle and good eye relief gets major bonus points.

I use this one that I got off eBay a few years back.  It came with the KVAR mount.'

It's Russian, but the optics are clear and it's actually pretty nice.

Of course when I'm not using that, I use this...

Hyuh.  I bet.  You SUCK.  (LOL)

Seriously, though––that scope is pretty much the footprint I'm looking for.

People tend to shit all over cheap optics, but does that "Bear" scope hold a consistent zero?

How many rounds have you put downrange?

What kind of reticle does it have?

I don't mind spending $250 on a quality optic––but if a cheap scope will hold me over in the meantime, until I find what I'm looking for.....

Thanks for posting.

It holds pretty good zero actually, even after months of being in a drawer....part of that is the solid KVAR mount.

It has a mil-dot type reticle.  It's 1.75x-5x zoom.

BTW, here's an original scope/mount for sale.

Don't know the seller.  I suppose it's a decent price these days....

UPDATE:

The NCSTAR 6X32 arrived today, and I'm actually pretty amazed by the quality of the glass.  The glass is way, way better than I ever would have expected, in both sharpness and light transmission.  I cannot over-emphasize how clear and sharp this glass is, and the eye relief is dead-nuts perfect.  If it had cost $250+ and arrived in a prestige cardboard box with a prestige painted logo I would not have thought twice or felt let down in the slightest.

If (yes, fair enough––IF) this $23  scope holds a solid zero it will be the deal of the century.

If I discover fatal shortcomings on this scope I'll update with a range report, and everybody can queue up and say "I told you so" and I'll sulk bitterly cuz I'm out $23 bucks, mmmmkay?
