What is a fair price on a (Serial# 9855XX) 1942 M1 Garand that has been rebuilt with a .308 barrel. It looks like a brand new gun. I have no idea who built it. Whoever did built it did a excellent job. Thanks
The obvious answer is,"The less, the better". At ~$600 I think you'd be safe. More than that and You have to ask yourself how badly you want it.
Or how well they built it.
I have one with a Wilson 308 bbl, which requires finish reaming as part of the install. While not mandatory, also check for a quality spacer so that only 308-loaded clips fit down inside. A nice weld job for the spacer, full blast/finish, new stock with primo fit, known smith, $800 a few years ago. I came in to pickup a K31 order, it spoke to me, since sold the K31 for more Swedes, still happy with the Garand.
For at least 300yds, the sight marks still work the same. Does not meet the letter of the rules for match competetion (06 only) but considering the NM stuff they do allow....
