I got a M44 for Christmas and took it out yesterday to try it out. I started out at 50 yards and it's shooting 6" to the left everytime. I'm shooting Czech light ball through it, but I tried some Hungarian that someone else had there.
I checked the front sight and it's centered, but it seems that I'm going to have to move it. Is there something else I need to check besides the front sight? If I have to move it, how far to the right do I need to go for 6" at 50 yards? thanks, BTW I love the rifle and they are fun and CHEAP to shoot!

Before drifting the front site, and remember when moving the front site you have to move it in the opposite way you want point of impact to move, try shooting it again with the bayonet extended. With some of mine that makes a huge difference in point of impact.

you have to drift the site opposite from where it impacts

Some of them are NOT easy to move. I just put a scout mount and scope on mine.

Extend the bayo and then shoot. I bet it'll be more to your liking.

just sighted an m44 in for a co-worker today with the chek light ball and
had the same results...drifted his front sight to the left prolly 1/32 in. now its right down the middle. the front sights i have seen are staked in place and require a pretty good whack with my puny 4oz hammer/brass punch to get it broken loose but moves fairly easy once free. try extending the bayo first and just see if it affects the poi. also try the pachmeyer? medium slip on recoil pad, your shoulder will thank you ETA--by the by..his rifle groups were 4 in about a 1 1/2 in circle with one flyer. 50yds better than my m38

In Soviet doctorine, rifles always sighted in with bayo attached and extended.

I figured you simply tapped the front sight, but someone recently told me you needed a tool and that it would in essence crank it over. Thanks, guys.
