Sounds like what you need it USGI ammo cans. Find some of those little dessicant packs and chunk a couple in each can. As long as you've got cans with good seals you're good as gold.

yep, get some 30 cal cans, sportsmansguide.com has some.
Put the rounds in gallon ziplock bags and then put them inside the 30 cal cans, guaranteed freshness.

Let's be clear about something: 300 rounds is not a 'huge surplus'. Like MauserMark, ziplock bag, 30 or 50 cal ammo can and a silica gel pack to keep things dry.
