Got this 140lb hog with my K31 (an AIM $60 special) out in Centerville, Tx.  I popped it with 174 grain FNM soft points at about 40 yrds.  It looks a lot worse than it is, the exit was about 1-1/2" but the neck shot produced a lot of blood.  She dropped dead in her tracks, I was very happy with the performance of the gun and ammo.  Can't wait for deer season.

Nice photo.

You may want to put a graphic warning in the thread title, (although I could care less)

Now, is that something you will eat??  Up here I know we eat wild boar but, is that the same thing?

You eat swine?! My religion prevents me from eating swine.....

JUST KIDDIN!! Nothing beats a side of BACON!

Looks like it did a fine job of planting the hog RIGHT NOW. I personally never had any doubts, I think the K31 should be good for just about any game in North America.

I actually have no idea what kinda rings they are, pulled them off my 10/22 and have shot about 30 rds so far with no ill effects at all.  I was trying to order the Warne rings from Brownell's but they were out and decided to give these a try and they've worked like a champ so far.  I'm in Austin, but we hunted the Langley Ranch in Centerville, Tx.

I can't seem to find any .22 dovetail rings that want to stay on the mount.

Why do you care at all? Does the icky blood make you dry?

Nice hog man. I am envious. What did the exit would look like? Did the ammo expand? How far did she go before falling?

The exit was only about 1-1/2",  it was only about a 40 yrd shot so there wasn't much room for a lot of expansion.  She didn't go anywhere but down!

I was with Mr. skm0308 (should be skm7.5swiss now!) when he took that hog . . . I have it dropping in it's tracks on video - Joe Langley calls  it DRT - Dead Right There.  The terminal performance of the swiss was quite impressive.  One of our buddies was using a .243 (against our suggestions . . .  I tried to get him to take my 45-70) and he had a hell of time putting a 200 pound hog down!
We grilled the ribs off the one I took the day before (with a Taurus 44 mag) and they beat any pork ribs you would buy from a store.

I have taken two hogs so far; one each with both of K31's.  Knock-down is excellent if you can get past the price of the Norma ammo.  I would image that deer would readily fall to it as well considering the ballistics are (I think) between .308 and .30-06.

Here you go:

I love seeing hogs fall to mil guns! Keep up the good shooting, and by all means KEEP POSTING PICS!

Anyone here ever try hunting with the Hornady 7.5 Swiss ammo?

I've got a couple boxes waiting (hopefully) for deer season.  Assuming the Army doesn't send me away AGAIN.

yep, have the same scope setup now as skm0308, and now some camo rap for the whole gun as well (these birch stocks get shiny in sunlight!).

Where did you get the mount?  Or did you have it manufactured?  I just got my K31 and it has already asked me to put a scope on it

skm0308 is using a clamp on version that can be purchased here
www.brownells.com/aspx/NS/store/productdetail.aspx?p=1666&s=
or
www.grafs.com/product/15734

The manufacturer is St. Marie and they also offer a permanent mount along with a few other K31 accessories.

Don't forget your C&R discount when ordering from Brownells or Grafs!

yep, mine came from Brownells, although I see them about 10 dollars cheaper on ebay now, just search for K31 or K-31.

who's the guy in the Guchi-flouge?  nice hogs.  i missed one about 2 weeks ago from about 20-30 feet.  i had my rifle sighted at 50 yards and in the dark i aimed center of shoulder and shot.  missed upon later testing on a target at about the same distance.  too bad i was wondering how my Beowulf would do on a hog.
