Were there any models after the M38 that were shorter, and had a turned down bolt?

I saw one at the fun show the other day, and wasn't sure if it was just a hack job on the barrel and an K98 bolt.

It had a receiver date of 1944.

Yes, there was a short rifle version.  IIRC these were made on GEW98/K98 receivers.  I saw one the other day in Houston.  I would have gotten it for $150 but the bore was crap.  This model is much less common.

I saw one at the conroe show the other day, didn't look at the bore, did however pick up a nice Yugo Capture.
