It has been almost a month since I received my Savage Enfield and finally able to take it to the range.

First, I have shot many a bolt action rifles and usually when the bolt is raised (after taking a shot) it moves back a bit, but not with the Enfield.

I raised the bolt and it didn't move back. After fidgeting a bit with it, like manually resetting the firing pin, it opened. This happened the next few rounds as well.

Then I was getting a bit frustrated, and jerked the bolt back and Hey, it opened. Then i realized the Enfield needs just a slight tug back after firing to open the bolt. Once this was figured out, it was sure a great rifle to shoot.

The other strange thing is I thought the firing pin was hanging a bit as I would pull the trigger, and I hear a click then about a half second later it would fire. I then remembered about another post talking about the "hang" fire. This was my first experience with it so the "problem" was not evident. Other than the hang fire it was great. In fact it helped to ensure I didn't jerk the rifle after pulling the trigger.

Overall, I was extremely happy with the results and enjoyment from a rifle that has a lot of history and cost under $200 bucks.
