These are commercial copies. Were the receivers cast, forged, barstock, in-spec, what?  Any good?

Forged receives, as I recall.

As to quality, these are the better aftermarket commercial copies. Most, if not all parts interchange with USGI carbines unlike Universals.

I also rank the Iver Johnson right up there with the Plainfields. Granted they don't command the value/price of  USGI carbines, but they make decent shooters.
