I bought this at a gargage sale years ago. Its just been sitting around. It has no bolt. I'm wondering If I could get one for it.

I think its some kind of spanish mauser. Its alot shorter than most of the rifles of that era.

Looks to be a Spanish Model 1916.  What caliber is it?

 it has no caliber markings. I'm guess 7mm mauser. its definetly smaller than 30cal.

A M1916 Spanish mauser in (original) 7mm. Most were converted to 7.62 NATO, and a bunch became FR-8's later. Here is a site that has everything you might need to know about it.

Has it got the crest intact on top of the receiver?

Weren't the 1916 conversions FR-7, and not really safe w/ .308? The FR-8 was made from another rifle IIRC. Mine is a 1955 la Coruna.

no crest that i can see. just the words and year. I disasembled it and found nothing but matching serial numbers  R6666 ewwwwww scary.
