C&R seems a bit stale the last few months. Just more of the same old stuff.

Any rumors of something new and great heading to our shores?

The last good rumor I saw was there was a possibility of reimporting US surplus military arms?
Any truth to that?

Allegedly, Samco will be receiving about 200 unissued........yes........unissued BSA SMLE No4 Mk 1 rifles that are all matching for $500 a piece.  Oh........sorry, I fell a sleep at the keyboard and started dreaming!

That was posted some place else here. I wonder how they will be sold? CMP? Regular dealers?

1911's won't be through the cmp.

they already have crates full of USGI and MATCH 1911's marked for destruction as they can not sell them to a dealer or the public. When they told me that it brought a tear to my eyes.

Then maybe they should just give them to us.

There is a way around everything, you just have to look.

that sucks, why cant these be classified as C&R since there are other m1911's on the C&R list?

the cmp was supposed to be getting a bunch of m1 carbine from the phillipeaans sometime this year also. haven't heard anything on them since they told me that.

I could always use another M1 Carbine

I need to keep up with that.  I'd be on a USGI M1 Carbine like a fat kid on cake.

Usually the CMP only sells the carbines to gun clubs for their shooting programs. A guy I know was able to buy 3 from them because he belongs to an affiliated carbine collectors club. I was able to get 3 through our gun club with a note from our CMP Rep. 2 Winchesters and a Saginaw. Then they cut them off. Several others members tried to get them the same way but they were too late. This was over a year ago.

Do we know that this holds true for this new shipment of carbines that are supposedly coming in?

Sir,

CMP is not an importer of firearms. The CMP will not see any reimported
rifles.

How did the Greek and Danish rifles get here?

The Greek and Danish rifles were loaned to them by our gov't. They were not sold to them. When done they returned them to the the US. That's when they wind up going to the CMP.

It was my impression that reimportation o fUSGI manufactured weapons was illegal, including lend lease firearms....

I would be all over them. The M1 Carbine is on my list as one of the most fun guns to shoot. Can always use another (make that 3 more) Carbine.

The CMP carbine rumor has been floating around for a couple of years now.  Paraguay supposed to be the source.   Some claimed to have seen the crates when they volunteered at Anniston.  But so far no carbines have shown up.   I'm sure Orest would love to get his hands on them, but so far I will believe this one when I see them.

It  would be nice to see a bunch come back in.   Prices on those little suckers started getting crazy about five years ago.  Now they are just through the roof.  Last Rock Island Auction had an M1A1 go for $5000. Blue Sky mix masters in decent but not great shape are $650 in these parts.  Beaters that wouldn't make a good fence post are still over $500.  Garands haven't gotten any cheaper in recent years but don't seem to have had to price pressure of carbines.

The Turkey connection on the USA made stuff will not make it here until year end at least from what I have heard. Another rumor was that Century had M1's already in CANADA and was preparing them for importation. If that bit is true I hope to God they fix the way they stamp thier pieces. Freakin billboard!

There has always been talk of the Phillipines, but I'm not holding my breath on that deal.

Other problems in the pipeline might be the value of the dollar and the asking prices from European dealers.

I wonder what WGA is doing with all of those M-39's they can't sell?

(Rumor Only Disclaimer)
On another board, I can't remember where,  it was said that the U.S. Marines have NOT yet surplused all their M1 Garands.  When and if they do it will dump a bunch of Garands on ODCMP.

Boy that would be nice. Hope my C&R comes before any of the rumors start to come true
