This is what is being said, let's hope it is true.

"yes its true, but I guess its a trade off, as of 07/12/05 there going to allow the importing of our own military weapons that we have given or loaned all over the world, back home, so I think you`ll see a lot of Garands, carbines, 1911, Springfields etc comming in the next few months, keep an eye on our boards sponsors"

Maybe a Century 5fer on cracked stock Garands?

Hopefully there will be enough of them so they aren't gone in a couple of days like a lot of stuff.

Will these things be showing up at the CMP or at surplus houses like AIM?  and how soon??

I intend to soon have less money and more stuff...

I just would like to get a couple of M1 carbines without getting bent over...

this is, indeed, good news.
I wonder what prompted this change in policy?

The "sporting purposes" clause for handguns is troubling.
I am getting very tired of that term.

Well I hope it doesn't happen for a while. I haven't received my C&R license yet

Think WWII semi-auto.
Garand
M1 Carbine
1911

we were talking about this this weekend and someone mentioned a very few semi auto BAR's were produced and shipped overseas.

I never heard of a GI issue semi-auto Bar. I was in the infantry for some time.

+1, there never was a semi auto USGI BAR ever made.  The closest thing with a ton of USGI parts is the Ohio Ordnance BAR.

I am in the exact same boat, except my grandfather was issued a 1917 Enfield.  Need to get one.

More 03's, P17's, maybe even some Krags if they're out there.

If handguns get through, 1911's, S&W Victory models, M9's down the pike?

All depends on interpretation of the letter, the deals brokered by the importers and the countries of origin.

I'm hoping the CMP gets its hands on some more Garands...

Has anyone heard anything about surplus USGI ammo being shipped back?  $0.25/rnd. Carbine ammo would keep me from getting one.   Plus I would like some cheap M1 enbloc ammo.

The CMP just recieved 45 million rounds of Greek M2 Ball ammo, and they have it up for sale
