Boiled Linseed oil here. Extremely easy to apply and looks great.

I cut mine 50/50 with mineral spirits. Rub it on thick, let sit for about 15 minutes then remove the excess with a cloth. I let it sit for 24 hours and repeat. Three or four coats look real good. |

I used pure Tung oil on mine. After 5 hand rubberd coats it looks really good.

Only you can answer that one. In my case the stock on my $59. M48 (pic posted earlier) was in serious nasty condition with a broken top fore end. After replacing the top piece the parts didn't match very well so I equalized it with stain then the BLO. Out of all the finishes I've used, I have had the best results with BLO. It may not be the best finish for all applications, but it's the one that's been the best for me. |
