what exactly is the gift policy for a C&R ffl?  am i allowed to buy one for a x-mas present?

It would be just like a sale.  You don't list the sale amount anyways.

You do need to write the required details in your dispositions in the bound book.

You don't want a bunch of these because if you ever get a compliance inspection you might have to explain them. <G>
