What Should I Get?

Chirstmas is coming up and I need a reasonable priced mil surp for my brother to get me. I need some ideas. I already have the following:
Turk M38's
Yugo M48
M44
91/30's
Schmidt Rubin 1911

My choices would be either a K31, or a Finnish 91/30. Probably wouldn't shoot the K31 much due to the caliber just like he 1911, but it would be nice to have. I shoot my 91/30's a lot and like those, which is why I am leaning towards a Finnish. I also wouldn't mind something in 7.62x51 if you have any ideas there or any that I havn't talked about.

In my opinion you can't go wrong with a Yugo M48... very nice rifles and quite accurate. I was so pleased with my Yugo M48 that I picked up a Spanish M48 a few weeks later.

I have a couple of the K31's. The brass is here and the guns are still cheap.

I'd vote for the K-31 as well but since you mention wanting something in .308 you might wanna look into a Spanish Mauser model 1916. They were originally made in 7x57mm but most were later converted to .308. I believe SOG has them but they might not be listed on their site, you'll have to call them.

I just noticed you are from Indiana. It just so happens I purchased my 1916 from Galyans in Westfield. Although it's abeen a while they also had a few Persian Mausers in stock, which are rumored to be the finest Mausers ever built.

If you like the 91/30, then get a Finnish M39, one of the unisssued or excellent condition ones, either Sako or VKT. Easy to shoot, good sights (front windage adjustable) and very accurate. You wouldn't be sorry.

yugo m48. nice cheap (but new condition) accurate rifles. cheap ammo to boot.

Definitely the Yugo M48,

Great quality rifles, fine worksmanship, cheap ammo, accurate, and they look great with refinished stocks

K31..... you will be amazed how well they shoot especially with handloads.........

I went to shoot my new M91/30 at the range the other day and we are new found friends

A lot more accurate then I had hoped

Look for a K31 with the walnut stock. The wood is much nicer IMHO than the later beech. Also, go to Swissrifles.com and download the SN/Date info. Use it to look for a 30's or 40's production rifle. A little more history with those. I saw one of these fitting the bill in a shop for about $130. I wanted to get it, but didn't have the money.
