First an M38 and now I just bought an M44.  For some reason I dig the heck out of these rifles.  Which one should I get next?

I have a M38 and a M44.  I just got a 91/30 since some with decent bores are around.  Might as well get a 91/59 too.

AIM has some fairly ancient 91's too.  My friend got a 1915 rifle.  Seen some folks get 1892's and 1894's.

You can go nuts with this deal.  There's hundreds of different Mausers too.<G>

How about a M39 Finn? it is a Mosin wih a difference and some very interesting history too.
That and they are accurate as hell.

I have a 1941 VKT M39 Finn that I got from Century when they were still cheap back in early 2000.  It's got a 1897 tang date, 100% bluing except the buttplate has a little thining.

Amazing to me that these were ever $89.95.

may i suggest you put up a poll to help decide

You need a Swedish Mauser.

Get a good Finnish M39 - either a Sako or VKT, they are excellent and accurate shooters, and/or a Finn 91/30. Finns are, as a rule of thumb, much more accurate than the Russian equvilants.

I would also highly recommend any of the Swedish Mausers (6.5x55). Argueably the most accurate of all the Milsurp rifles out there. The supply is dwindling so prices on these in VG condition are starting to go up.

The Swiss K31 rifles are another really good choice. Very accurate also. Straight pull bolt is different and takes getting used to though, but after some use it is very natural and quick. VG ones are can still be bought from several sources for less than $150.

BTW, the Swedes and Swiss are known for NOT using corrosive ammo, which is one reason their bores are in such good shape 50-100 years later.
