"There ain't many problems that a man can't fix with $700 and a .30-'06."
- Jeff Cooper

Had my first C&R gun delivered today - a Remington manufactured Model 1903 rifle.  I found it on www.m1903.com.  Here's a few pics for your perusal:

Looks very nice.  Let us know how it shoots.

Is that serial number in the 3,000,000 range?  The reason I ask is that a few weeks ago at the range, a guy was telling me that '03s in the 800,000 range and earlier were not safe to shoot.  Something about improper heat treating of critical parts.

Yes, its in the 3,100,xxx range, made during the early stages of the transition to speed manufacture, so the appearance is a little rough compared to some earlier models.

Nice looking 03.

I just got an 03A3 from CMP. Got it all cleaned up and took the old finish off. The stock was in great shape.

Had some cherry stain laying around, but no tung oil or walnut at the time so I use that. Couple of coats and a couple of coats of Poly and it looks great.

Great first buy.
