Single shot stamped 45. Had to extract the spent cartridge with a wooden dowel.  Dropped by air by the thousands in Europe during WWII.  Saw a feature about it on OLN.  ( Outdoor Life Network .  Pretty cool!

I have heard of it. It was mainly used by resistance forces to shoot an enemy soldier to take his weapon. It was a pretty cheap weapon to build and I here it was pretty reliable, but wasn't perfered because it was just a single shot, but I hear it served its purpose well.

For my 400th post, I'll give you the link.

Made by a division of GM at $2.10 a pop.  6.6 man seconds of labor to produce each gun.  10 seconds to load it.

I saw one at the last gunshow. They had it out on the table and would even let you handle it. Although they had the cocking knob plastic tied down. They even had the instruction sheet laid out so you could pick it up and read it.

Very cool. Had a nice conversation with the owner and thanked her/and husband for showing it like that.

Try buying for novelty sake or to add to a collection? They sell today for $1200+ last time I checked.

They are cool looking but I don't have $1200 for a single shot smoothbore .45! Perhaps when I'm rich and famous though...
