Dunno if it's best to post here or in Silencers, but I'll ask here first.

I have a 10/22 with an 18" .920 barrel. I want to do a Form 1 and bore out the barrel for an integral mono baffle stack. I'm thinking I'll go 8". With the effective barrel length of 10" and the limited additional backpressure created by the baffles, will this run with just about anything or...?

Basically, how short of a barrel will a 10/22 run with before dicking with springs etc?

People regularly run them down to 4.5" and shorter. What's a factory charger barrel? At least that short. If you really want to check just chop a cheapy barrel until it stops running. Also look up ramping the bolt which smooths it out and can help it run. Lots of people do it to increase reliability with bulk pack.

10/22 usually runs fine down to a 4.5" barrel unsuppressed. That length also keeps most ammo subsonic.

If I'm not mistaken, the Silent-SR ISB has only 8" of barrel and the rest is just baffles.

Interestingly enough I want to do a form 1 for a similar project in the future.

Maybe I will chop it to 16.1 and then go 8 deep. 8" is about the limit for depth I can do with the tooling at hand.

Sounds like a good idea to me with your limitations. Either update the thread or do a new one when it's done.

I backbored a CZ 455 barrel and used flashlight reflectors as baffles on one of my form 1s. Fun little gun.
