Anyone uses either of these scopes:
CenterPoint 3-9x40mm Tactical Hunting and Shooting Scope

CenterPoint 4-16x40mm Scope

How do you like it on your 22?

I use the 4-16x. I really like it for a cheap scope. I just need to get some medium rings, but the ones that came with it work fine. The Turrets can be "Locked" in place, which is a neat feature.

I also have the 4x-16x on a .22. Mine is mounted on a 10/22 and it works great for that. I had one mounted on a centerfire and it seemed to shoft zero at one point so I am not sure about durability but on the 10/22 it has worked fine.

I put one of the CenterPoint 3 X 9 .22 Rimfire Scopes on my old Remington 512 .22 bolt action rifle and it seems to do a real good job.  It's clear and holds zero real well.  I haven't found that it shifts the POI any from one power to another.  I like the mildot scope.  I zero'd at 50 yards, so two dots holdover puts me on target at 100 yards without any adjustment.

For the money the CenterPoint scopes seem to be well built and perform very good.

I had the 3-9x on my son's Marlin 795. With the medium rings that came with it, it sits rather high. But it is very clear and with a 50 yard zero, distances were easy to judge for mildot holdover.

For the 3-9x, on which magnification is the mildot reticle meant to be used?

I don't know. I didn't read the manual to find out. I
always assumed it was for the 3x. I didn't use the formula or anything. The distances were already known. When I say easy to judge for mildot holdover I meant it was easy for me or my son to remember what dots to use on 9x at distances after 50 yards. Sorry for the misleading statement.

i have one on my 10/22 mounted in burris zee rings, and its really nice for the price. I was really suprised.

I may look into the 4-16 because I am getting fed up with my Tasco's (1st) the windage turret won't adust any longer (POI is 5" to the left) (2nd) the elevation lock screws 2 out of the 3 have stripped heads as of today. I changed out rings and wished I didn't now.

Now I have to send in both scopes for repair.

I just may get them repaired and put them up for sale.

I have the 4-16 on a Rem 700 .308 and so far so good.  Just thinking the other day about putting it on a rimfire.  I think the mil-dots are supposed to be used at 10x to gauge distance.

I quit using Tasco scopes a long time ago, they were more trouble to me than anything. The few that i did own couldnt hold a zero for very long.



I recently put a Centerpoint 4x22 compact on my marlin, havent had much time with it but seems like an alright scope.



 

I have two of the 4-16x40's bought from Walmart. One is on an AR and one on mt Rem. model 5 22lr.

Actually had to exchange one, but the two I have are OK now.

The optics are fairly bright up to 12x, but beyond that they get pretty bad with eye placement being very critical and the contrast and sharpness going downhill very fast at higher magnifications than 12. Buy it knowing that it is usable up to 12x, but beyond that it is a crap shoot. Both of mine above 12x are really bad.

The lit reticle (red and green) is too bright in dim conditions (even at the lowest settings). The highest setting is pretty good in daylight when shooting at black targets like the center of bulleyes.

Overall for $70 scopes, not too bad. Nothing as nice as even  $200 or $300 scope though, so don't expect that kind of performance.

My son's inexpensive $200 Burris Fullfield II 3-9x40 scope kit (packaged with cheap $40 rimfire 3-9x32) is much better in all respects.

I think I will buy the 4-16 from Walmart.com for $64 plus my discount (-$6.40). My store has them in stock for $67 and now I won't have to pay state taxes. Worth the week wait.

It holds a zero very well. I have been most impressed with its performace so far.

I have had this scope on my m&p 15-22 and it was solid. It now is on a springer air rifle and doing fine.

Not bad for an inexpensive scope. I now have a RedField on my 15-22.

got one on my ar for hunting its a decent scope one of thoe type that you dont have to worry if you knock it around in the brush while hunting..
it holds zero and the optics are not too bad..

it is a very nice scope for the price....i have it on my cz, fitted perfect

I use the 4-16x40mm on an AR15 carbine and a .270 bolt action. It works well on them.


I'd imagine it would be perfectly fine on a rimfire.
