Archived [ARCHIVED THREAD] - Question about R22 surface finish

I have an early R22 that I'm quite tickled with. I've got a question for RA or anybody else who can answer. I understand the receiver is aluminum? The first few runs were going out with a dark gray color, these days they are black. What is the surface coating is for those two finishes?

The black finish is standard now, it is Mil spec Black hard anodize over beadblasted surface.

The grey/green finish is non-colored hard anodize over a polished surface. That is a very difficult finish to obtain so it was limited to the first production run.
