I have a 10/22 synthetic stock/ stainless on layaway for my 8 year old.  I see they make a shorter version 16.5?
Does anyone know if the regular size stock would work for an 8 year old, or would the smaller length 10/22 be better? Would it have a a smaller size stock?

Thanks, Perry

I was always a tall kid, but I had no problems shooting a standard 10/22 from the time I was 7.  If I was you, I would go with the gun on layaway, and if it's too long, just get a used wooden stock off EBay, or the EE, and cut it to fit him.

Evolution stock that's adjustable, train him early to shoot an AR

I have a full size birch stock that you're more than welcome to cut down for him.

Why do you assume it's a him?

This is my eight year old with my (well, her) scoped 10/22. She's also relatively tall for her age, but she has some trouble reaching with her left hand around the stock. She's lefty also, but I wanted her to learn to shoot right handed.

Thanks for the pic. Yeh I have a daughter she is 8 in May, she is tall for her age. I think the 10/22 like yours, will work for her.

brownells has a youth stock for the 10/22. the LOP is like 11inches and the trigger reach is right for kids. Fits my kid nicely.
