I have also heard that wal-mart gets all the bad apples. anyone know anything about this rumor?

I think it is just an internet rumor. Wally World is the biggest distributer in the US so they get a discount price as they buy more 10/22s than anyone. Plus even Ruger cant turn out enough "seconds" to keep Wally World stocked if they actually did that.

Walmart is a huge "retailer" so they get good pricing from the "distributors" on rugers. Hate to bring you the bad news but they get there firearms from the same "distributors" that your local gunshop does in most cases. That is a funny rumor though....Kinda reminds me about Coscto/Sams Club rumors...

I just bought a new one last month for $159 at a local gunshop. It works perfectly, I haven't had a single malfunction with either the factory mag or BC "Hot Lips" mags (knock on wood)

Wal-Mart or maybe a pawn shop if you are only going to be using the receiver for a build.
