well, you can buy a ar15 reciver. just thought i could do the same for a 10/22 because thats the only thing that im really gunna use.

It is cheaper to find one used and buy the whole gun, then sell off the unwanted parts.

+1 or keep them as spares. you can find a few stripped recievers. most or "upgrades" beefier units. |

Volquartsen makes a VERY expensive 10/22 receiver...I've seen at least one other that was about the price of a new rifle. Somebody else makes a cheaper one, but iirc it needs some finishing to get it to drop into a stock.
You might want to check out Brownell's. But, by the time you pay the shipping and the transfer fee, it really is cheaper just to trot down to Wally World and snag one. The superlite one for $196 actually looks pretty cool...it comes in colors, and has a built in scope mount. I could see buying that one...I've actually thought about it. As a matter of fact, I might just do that when I do my next 10/22 build. A nice shiny RED one

New rece0000ivers cost more than new guns, I always start with used guns for about $125.00 instead of approx $300 or more for just receiver assembly. Lots of benifits from new trigger assembly but not receivers

MidwayUSA has them, not cheap. Cheapest one is still more than a complete rifle/carbine plus shipping and FFL transfer.

I've looked at a receiver only purchase and came to the conclusion it's cheaper to buy a complete new or used 10/22 and use that as the basis for the build. Any parts you don't use can be kept as spares or sold to offset the cost of the receiver.
