Where is the best place to get one. What configuration would be best. Cost? I've seen pics of one that had an integral silencer built in to the barrel but maybe that's not as flexable as a can you can use on more than one weapon.

Are there any web sites out ther that specialize in silenced weapons?

Thanks for the help. I have money in my pocket for a change and it seems to be burining a hole in my jeans

I have a 10-22 with the integral suppresor by coastal and love it i am looking at a screw on can next to put on my p22 unless i find a norrel triger pack first

I prefer the screw off design so I can change it between different firearms. It has worked great so far.

I bought a screw on from AWC and had my bull bbl 10/22 threaded for it. Also threaded the bbl on a Browning Buckmark and got an adapter for my P22. For the price of one suppressor, I got three weapons suppressed, and can always thread any other 22 I happen to get. The 10/22 with the suppressor and a red dot is unbeatable on ground squirrels.

The integrally suppressed rifles have shorter barrels, can shoot any type of ammunition, and are generally quieter than rifles eqipped with muzzle cans. The down side is that they are not as versatile.

What I really like about the integrally suppressed guns, is that because of their configuration, nobody will know they're suppressed until you fire the weapon.

I have one of the integrally suppressed AWC Ultra II barrels for my 10/22, and am very happy with it's performance.

I have an integrally suppressed one as well. All you can hear is the hammer falling and the action working. Simply amazing.

Everyone that shoots it has to look up after the first shot and see the empty casing falling - just to verify that it fired.

Ordered a Tactical Solutions barrel today. Can't wait to try out my 10/22 with the gemtech can on it.

Dale Summers of summers Machine Inc (might not be the exact company name, I'll look later). I bought it second hand and could not track down the original manufacturer. He was a friend of the original owner.

I also have a MarkII suppressed by the same guy and it tested quieter than a Gemtech in a side by side comparison...

Well, my opinion is you should go with the external can. The advantage is you can move it around to different platforms. Unless you want to get multiple 22 cans that is. Which would be ultimately cooler, but each requires the $200 tax stamp and ATF process.

MMy first foray into NFA was my SJM can which I then had 2 weeapons threaded for. One markII pistol and one 10/22 rifle.

This is the result which I am very happy with . Very quiet with normal ammo. Reliable. And, I think, kewl.

Note the can is on the rifle in the second picture. The Ruger 10/22 bull barrel and can are close to the same diameter.

If your going to use it on a rifle, why not get one thats built for an AR and really get some multiple use out of the thing ? We do one for $485. using a 9 in. tube . It looks pretty wicked on a 10/22

You do realize that it needs to be 'fitted' to your receiver, don't you?

Fitted as in the barrel shank and extractor groove haven't been cut or fitted as in it's a little oversized and needs to be brought down on a lathe a little to fit properly?

When I talked to them on the phone, they made it sound like this was a "drop in" part - like most of the aftermarket barrels out there. The website does say it is "available" with an oversized shank "for a custom fit" but I would assume that, like muzzle threading, it is only done if specifically asked for.

In any case, I'll make it work, or a gunsmith friend of mine will if it's out of my capabilities.

I thought suppressors were only legal for private use in 35 (or was it 38) states?

Still, considering that VT has no license req'd concealed carry I'm surprised about their silencer laws

Because a properly designed suppressor for a high power rifle is longer and MUCH HEAVIER than any .22cal RF suppressor, and suppressed .223's aren't quiet anyway.
