A few of my collection of Remington Nylon rifles. Included from top to bottom are a couple first year production 66s (1959) including a rare Seneca Green 66, an Apache Black chrome 66, a Black Diamond 66, and the only lever action rifle Remington ever made a Nylon 76 Trail rider. The next is an matt black and green mag fed called the Apache 77 made for K-Mart, next is an original Nylon mag fed 77.  The bolt action is Nylon 11 mag fed.

Here is some interesting (to me anyway) trivia. The picture below are the mag fed nylon rifles. The first was introduce in 1970 as the Nylon 77. It had a 5 shot detachable magazine. They later sold a 10 shot mag but by 1972, the Ruger 10/22 was becoming very popular with the 10 shot mag. Remington renamed the Nylon  77, the Mohawk 10C, the 10 C referring to a 10 shot "clip" to compete with the 10/22.

Mohawk refers to the color. All brown nylon rifles have what they called "Mohawk brown" stocks. There were only about 15,000 nylon 77s made, but Rem produced about 128,000 10Cs from 1973-1978. In 1987, Remington made a run of 77s for K-Mart which had a dark green stock and a matt black finish. These were called the Apache 77. At least a couple hundred thousand, if not more, were made. Second from the top is the Nylon 77, rest are 10Cs except for the green one.
BTW, that green one is my favorite woods gun. It is light, accurate, reliable like all nylon rifles and I can grap a handfull of mags when I go for a walk in the woods.

Was there one that you loaded via the stock? I seem to remember shooting one about 16 or 17 years ago.

All the Nylon 66s were tube fed through the stock. Held 14 rounds if I remember correctly.

Also the lever action fed through the stock.

BTW, most nylon rifles had 19" bbls. A few of the bolt actions, there were three different bolt actions, could be had with 24" bbls. The 24" bbl rifles are pretty rare.

I love my nylon 66. My father got it for me when I was 10 after the daisy single shot .22 broke.
I have put many tens of thousands of rounds through the gun and it stills shoots like a gem.  Also I will be the first to say that you can shoot these guns with a handful of sand in the action.

Buffalo Range and several years of just cleaning the barrel can attest to that.

Here's another interesting one. This one is a Nylon 66 GS. The GS stands for Gallery Special which shot 22 shorts only. These were used in shooting galleries. Note the shell deflector. Many also had a bracket on the bottom that was attached by a cable to the countertop in the gallery.

One more time...The top rifle is a pretty rare chrome and black lever action, only about 1600 were ever made. The middle is a bolt action Nylon 12. This is tube fed, but the tube is under the barrel. The bottom is a basic Apache 77. These are not mine, I wish the top two were.

BTW the lever actions and bolt actions were only made from 1960-62. It is kinda fun playing with 40+ year old guns.
