Here is some interesting (to me anyway) trivia. The picture below are the mag fed nylon rifles. The first was introduce in 1970 as the Nylon 77. It had a 5 shot detachable magazine. They later sold a 10 shot mag but by 1972, the Ruger 10/22 was becoming very popular with the 10 shot mag. Remington renamed the Nylon 77, the Mohawk 10C, the 10 C referring to a 10 shot "clip" to compete with the 10/22.
Mohawk refers to the color. All brown nylon rifles have what they called "Mohawk brown" stocks. There were only about 15,000 nylon 77s made, but Rem produced about 128,000 10Cs from 1973-1978. In 1987, Remington made a run of 77s for K-Mart which had a dark green stock and a matt black finish. These were called the Apache 77. At least a couple hundred thousand, if not more, were made. Second from the top is the Nylon 77, rest are 10Cs except for the green one.
BTW, that green one is my favorite woods gun. It is light, accurate, reliable like all nylon rifles and I can grap a handfull of mags when I go for a walk in the woods.
