i have a marlin papoose and have been pleased with it. i dumped my blued 10/22 not too long ago, and have the high cap mags lying around. perhaps what would be best is a stainless 10/22 takedown which would also allow me to use high cap mags. i'm not a huge follower of the 10/22 market. anyone know of anything which might work for me? either ots or heavily modified.

essentially, i want a lightweight, rifle which can fit in a pack. stainless is preferred. high caps would be nice for versatility.

thanks.

Taurus model 62 carbine. Stainless takedown 22lr. It holds 13 rounds, you can shoot and shoot...
Only thing is, its a pump action rather than a semi. Takes down with one thumb screw.
You can get an optional flip up tang sight or put a scout scope on it.
I've got one in 22 WMR, everyone who shoots it get a big smile on thier face. One of my favorite rifles...
I don't think you'll be dissapointed with it.

16" barrel and folding stock for a 10/22? How short do you want it? I'm not familiar with the Papoose. Maybe an AR-7 Survival Rifle?

That's all I can think of.

The Papoose is a nice light 22lr.  Takes down into a 5x14" or so case.  Weighs in at 4# or so with the case.  They are sweet little guns.  It's the same action as the 795, just with a removable barrel.

There are some marlin 15 round 22lr magazines out there.

In regards to the 15 rd mags for the papoose, are these metal or plastic?  Any idea where one could be found?

How about the Springfield M Scout?
22 (or .22 Hornet) over a .410.

I was uanble to find any Marlin factory 15 or 25 round mags for my Papoose. But both have been made.

I did buy several 10 round mags for about 8.0 each. I dont know why they only ship with a 7-round mag.

The Papoose is a great rifle, but you have to torque the barrel nut the same every time or the windage is off.
