I'll be pooling my Christmas resources this year and getting a PC and some plates.  I've pretty much decided on the steel plates from AR500armor.com.  I'm aware of the long lead time and I can accept that.  They also sell plate carriers that they say are optimized for use with their plates.  I'm hoping this means that the pockets for the plates are designed with the relatively very thin ( 1/4") steel plates, as opposed to other plate carriers that are designed to fit armor plates that can be over an inch thick.  I'm looking at their Banshee PC, specifically.
I like the idea of the low profile that steel plates could offer so I don't really want to add thick foam or other material to take up the space in the plate pockets, but I don't want the whole setup to fit loosely and have excessive movement.
Anyone here have any experience with the PCs sold by AR500 Armor?  Other than the fact that it will take months to get one?  How is the quality?  How does a steel plate fit into the pocket?  Any complaints (other than the lead time)?  Thanks a lot.

Just FTR, I started out looking at that Banshee package but quickly realized I could get a set of Highcom level 4 plates $224 shipped + Shellback Banshee PC $121 shipped for a couple dollars less and eliminate the spall issue.

This link was given in a thread I started a few days ago.  I think this is what you are referring to:

Highcom Level IV plates $224 shipped w/ coupon ARMOR
http://highcomsecurity.com/collections/plates/products/active-shooter-response-kit-plates-only

Shellback Banshee PC $121 shipped
http://www.tacticalassaultgearstore.com/bansheerifleplatecarrier.aspx

Only reason I didn't do this is because I found some ESAPI plates for less, but I'll still likely grab the Banshee PC.

ArpaioFan, I'm not sure if you're responding to me and my original post or to the guys talking about the Shellback Banshee carrier for a low, low price.
The link you posted is not the setup that I'm talking about.  The one that I'm looking at is sold by www.ar500armor.com.  AR500 Armor offers a plate carrier that they call the Banshee, but I don't think it's the one made by Shellback.  I think the one that they sell is made or at least designed/specified by them.  It says nothing about Shellback on the AR500 Armor website, and they say that it's constructed with steel armor plates in mind.  Though from what I can tell it's very similar if not virtually identical to the Shellback Banshee.
I contacted AR500 Armor and asked them about the fitment of the thin steel plates in the carriers they offer and I'm waiting to hear back.

If it's designed for the steel plates, then I'm sure the ones sold through AR500 will work fine.

Personally, I would forget steel and go with ceramic plates.

Found on another board, one time deal

Sorry for the slight hijack OP. Also I think ArpaioFan thought I was talking about that Shellback combo, but I am not.

AR500 armor uses Condor plate carriers for several of their packages and the Banshee is the TAG one. They don't design any of their carriers.

Most of the AR500 plate carriers are standard Condor carriers; they aren't specific for thin plates.

I know at least one airsift company makes Shellback Banshee knock-offs. I'm not saying that's what ar500's selling...just saying that they do exist.

Damnit !

Wish they had the multi cam.

Wonder which would be better, Coyote or Ranger Green ?

I've thought and debated about getting a plate carrier, still on the fence.

their feedback is 100%, and the plates are all certified.  They shipped them 1 day later than the ad stated, but Im not all that bothered by that for the price.

I havent recieved them yet, but ill post up if anything seems off. I should have them by no later than monday.

Here is their website.

I have no affiliation, just wanted to pass on, what I thought was, a good deal.

Update, playes arrived on friday. So even though they shipped 1 day later than stated in the ad, shipping was timely.  Plates have a nice radius, measure up properly, and the coating is nice and uniform.  Id buy these again, and tecommend them to anyone who wanted them.
