I am looking for a bandoleer for my 12 gauge shotgun. It has to hold at least 25rds (1 box), and up to 50 at the most. I want something that is good quality and non-reflective. I would prefer leather, however all of the leather 12 gauge bandoleers I have seen thus far have shiny metal pieces on them. This will be used for hunting/hiking and if necessary, SHTF.
If my only option is a synthetic material (nylon for instance), then I want something that is not a POS Chinese product. I have a Vickers tactical sling for my AR, and I want the quality to be at least as good as that.
Any suggestions?
I'm not sure you have thought all this through, and no offense intended.
Most Mil SG users use panels on their vests that allow acces to SG shells as needed. entrygear has such, on sale.
Most users, no matter where, use extension tubes and some form of side-saddle attachment also.
Almost nobody uses sling-mounted shells, as that has a huge negative effect on aim.
As far as bandoliers go, anything that leaves the least bit of the neon-colored SG shell exposed is not good camo, and forget the little shiny brass bits. Might not be a bad thing to think about shielding the SG shells from precip/ice, either.
Almost all leather is now passe. Nice stuff, but few will buy excellent quality stuff to begin with, and fewer still will know how to maintain same. So forget leather. Heavy, absorbs water, and mostly junk, unless you pay dearly for good stuff.––and take real good care of it forever.
Some SG users carry an over-the shoulder mag-dump pouch/bag with a flap over an elastic slit top. Can carry 50-rds easily. Looks a lot like this:
http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/MOLLE326-1.html Fix it up wirh a waist/leg strap, and you are GTG. I have a pouch just like the one linked, mounted on my belt with a shoulder strap assist. I don't even know it's there, even with 50 rds, but is is easy to access and use. Secured, and doesn't flop around. Acessable in any shooting position. Keeps all the SG rounds dry, too. Might want to consider something like this, or the GI SG panels.
