I'm definitely buying one but can someone tell me WTH is S-Coyote ? is it true USMC Coyote or a Eagle Industries creation
All Eagle Industries USMC Coyote products are made in "S-Coy", which stands for solution-dyed coyote.
Items like the the USMC SPC (Scalable Plate Carrier) are made in S-COY. Absolutely legit. |

I remember the PIG being discussed like a year or two ago, is it just now starting production?
Sure is pretty |

hey J, so was I the first again?? hehe Sorry dude, believe it or not, there were a score of pre-orders in before you this time.... if we had the pre-order discount code straightened out in time when you first tried to order, you still would have been third Some guys are up all night! Quoted:

This thing debuted at SHOT in 2007 (work actually started in 2006), and it has been a long and arduous process, requiring half a dozen trips to Eagle, and a lot of standing around twiddling thumbs while they waded through their hundreds of OEM projects to get to us. I really like my pre-production model but that looks nice! Thanks! We took feedback from our pre-production users and we went to work on the list of functional attributes we wanted to feature. After trying to modify the existing design for a while (which was already a modification of another design), we went back to the drawing board... and then decided to throw the drawing board out the window. We used the force and just let go... decided that there was no spoon... and the darkness flowed into cad and out onto sewing machines So while it may look very different, the spirit and function list is nearly the same, but the plate placement, comfort and options are at an entirely different level. |

I was going to say it doesn't look "much" like the pre-production. I like the new back piece with the air channel, although I do like the padding on the lower back area of the p-production model. Looks like you guys did your homework for sure. |

Is there a mod or way to carry standard E-sides in that, er, ah, well, PIG? We offer side plate carriers for each cummerbund option that will fit both Ceradyne 6"x 6" and standard E-SAPI Side Plates which are 6"x 8". The side plate pouches are built with an elastic expansion capability so it will handle a soft armor side plate backer as well. Many users already have their side plates in modular pouches so you can molle that directly onto the molle cummerbund. HTH! |
Can the PACA IIIA side panels be used in this molle cummerbund, or just plates in the add-on plate pockets? |

Can the PACA IIIA side panels be used in this molle cummerbund, or just plates in the add-on plate pockets? That's a very good question- we are currently working on a cummerbund for specific users that will allow for the use of soft armor panels internally. It *may* entail pre-packaged soft armor that is non-removable like the USMC SPC. We initially had the soft armor feature ala the Eagle PC w/ CB, but found that the lightweight material would not support the weight of the side plates without causing shifting between the inner and outer layers of the cummerbund... It's hard to describe without pics, but put your hands together symmetrically in a "prayer" configuration, and now shift the left hand down an inch. When the cummerbund was empty (no soft armor) and the side plate pouch was used, the weight of the plate would drag down the inner layer of the cummerbund. We had enough input from special operations users that ran just their side plates without soft armor on the cummerbund that we decided to keep it simple by tacking the layers to support the side plate. Furthermore, we never really fully embraced the idea of having a soft armor insert in front of the hard plate, which is how the Eagle cummerbund is currently configured. You can use an Eagle PC Cummerbund on this plate carrier, so if you want to have a cummerbund soft armor capability immediately on this rig, you can retrofit you're existing Eagle cummerbund if you have one. We also have a side plate molle pouch in the works that will offer more versatility. |

Thanks for the info. Makes sense.
I must say this thing looks VERY well thought out. It addresses every gripe I had about the pre-production model, and then some! I was just about to pull the trigger on an SOHPC, but now I'm kinda glad I put it off. |
Can you give us a quick rundown on the main differences between the PIG and the PC with Cummerbund? If I'm reading this correct there is no soft armor insert capability with the PIG...is that correct?
The soft armor capability is in the chassis, with a separate compartment for a plate backer, and in the side plate pockets that have elastic for a snug fit with or without a soft armor backer. There is no soft armor capability in the cummerbund currently, although we are working on a soft armor cummerbund for a specific user that wont be available commercially until Summer 2010.

I've seen this PC and have done a little research on it. From what I have found this is a pretty kick arse PC. I would love to grab one up and test it out.
I think you meant
http://www.skdtac.com/PIG_Plate_Carrier_p/pig.502.htm (your linky no worky) Where can I view Coyote Brown and Khaki, to see the difference of the two? Anyone have a useful side by side comparison? thanks |
Solution dyed Coyote is darker than Khaki. I'll see if I can take a pic tonight.
Can I get a few pictures of how the front panels open? I'd like to put a HSGI admin pouch and a few mag pouches on the front, but it looks like the front flap is two separate panels. Will it work if the two panels are joined?
It will work, you'd just be lifting up both panels since they'll be connected.
The benefit to keeping them split is that you can get in and out easier by just keeping one side closed, like the MAR-CIRAS. Thanks! |
Owwwww- busted!
Good work finding that pic... Next time you'll know to check before you ask, right? In all seriousness, we'll have all new pics up of all the colors and options once the first run comes off the line. Thanks! |
Oh trust me I looked long and hard, thats what she said, for that picture.
I am still torn but leaning towards Coyote I might make this a B-day present to myself |
Looks good. If I could find plates for the carrier that I already have I might be interested in one of these but as for now I am still searching for plates. Maybe after the ruch I will try.
Just an FYI- our PIG Plate Carrier 10% Pre-Order Discount runs until Jan 31- thanks!
Does the pre-production discount have a expiration date also? I have my email but it didn't mention anything about a date.
Thanks, Eric |
Sorry, the PIG Plate Carrier will not fit PPI Level IV Stand-alone plates as they do not have enough of a corner cut.
The PIG PC will fit any plate that fits within the outer dimensions of an XL SAPI. Thanks! |
What kind of soft armor options will this PIG handle? Or would I be better off with a separate soft vest underneath?
You can wear soft armor under any plate carrier, but the PIG-PC will have separate plate backers you can use and insert in the separate pocket.

Are we still looking at March for them to arrive?
And what about me, I just recently put my pre-order in, will I be waiting even longer or do you expect a large shipment to arrive all at once? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks, James |

Are we still looking at March for them to arrive? And what about me, I just recently put my pre-order in, will I be waiting even longer or do you expect a large shipment to arrive all at once? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks, James James, We apologize for the late reply, but It took us this long to get a firm commitment from Eagle- and we now have one. Good, bad or indifferent, we have committed to using Eagle Industries to produce this item due to their amazing quality, but that also means we are completely beholden to Eagle's production capability, which at the moment is experiencing unprecedented delays. So the bad news is that like every other Eagle dealer and OEM account, the current situation at Eagle has made any previous delivery estimates unobtainable. The good news is that unlike every other Eagle dealer and OEM account, through non-stop and tireless negotiations on behalf of our pre-order customers, we have secured a written commitment from Eagle that deliveries will begin mid-April. If you are a pre-order customer, you will be receiving a detailed email with a copy of the letter from Eagle today. To answer your other question, all pre-orders are covered in the order quantities we placed for our initial production run- we did not take any pre-orders for items we did not have on order. The initial production run will happen one color at a time, and we have requested that Eagle produce the MultiCam versions first, so those will most likely be the ones that arrive in April. We do not have specific dates for follow-on color deliveries, but we are being told they will follow shortly after, and we will keep you posted on any updates from Eagle. All PIG PC part descriptions online have been updated with the following information: –––––––––––––––– ***Delivery Update (03/08/10): Due to the incredible backlog at Eagle, all dealers and OEM accounts have been experiencing MAJOR delays in delivery, and we are no exception. Orders placed today with Eagle are being quoted 16-20 weeks for delivery. We originally estimated the PIG Plate Carrier would be available no later than late March, and had actually built in a factor of 6-8 weeks in our delivery estimate, hoping for an early February delivery. Unfortunately the current situation at Eagle exhausted the buffer we had built into our delivery estimates, but we have a written commitment from Eagle that delivery of our PIG Plate Carriers will begin by the second week of April 2010. Deliveries will most likely begin with MultiCam. We at SKD would like to sincerely apologize to those of you who have been patiently waiting for this system. Rest assured, we have been working with Eagle daily at addressing this delay, and they have answered us with a firm delivery promise. We appreciate your business and your patience, and we are confident that this system will be worth your wait. Thank you.*** |

Thank you for your reply
Like you said good or bad news is still better than no news I look forward to receiving my carrier regardless of when it comes in On another note i received my mag pouches that i had already ordered in anticipation of my PIG and the EGL pouches are awesome Do expect more products, such as the Double M4 shingle with four permanently attached pistol mag pouches, coming in from them? I have the "Monkey Stomper" and am very pleased with it |
