Cheed it out but those are pretty much low drag helmets and not GI or mil. Dunno kinda like comparing a bike hemet to a motorcycle helmet. Anyone else have some GI hard hats

unless you plan to get shot at or dodge IEDs, the "bike" helmets are far more comfortable and lighter weight, a major plus when you have heavy optics on it. it's meant for bump protection.

and make that comparison to these guys:

Dude, quit trying to derail this guys thread, who cares what they would say when that's not what the thread is about.

Not upset or anything. Just hoping some other guys had pics of M1 steel pots , German Pots and nam issue helmets. Not disputing the use of  light head protection for fast action guys .

Two things..
1) We used to have a "million" of the steel pots in the Navy, they were painted red and put in Repair Lockers for Damage Control evolutions.  They all went to DRMO (I guess) after we switched to Firefighter head gear.

2) I would guess that some of the HSLD helmets COULD be made from Kevlar and provide some protection from bullets or fragments.  Different missions, different needs.

Are you looking for info where to buy one or just looking for pics of people's convo pieces?

Said gear and more on the title. . Is there a section for militaria? Looking to see some infantry helmets. Not trying to start a flame war.

wasnt trying to be crass, I just come across that way   not really any specific spot for militaria and olther collectibles. Good idea for another General subforum though.

Sorry, I actually use mine.

Kevlar, upgraded to 3point, NVG mount and MC cover.

I have the bike helmet mod as well, but no current pics.

Sweet set up does it pull your head more forward with the mount down or does it have a batt pack to counter the weight.

the kevlar is evened out by the weight of the helmet and the 3 point.

My skate board helmet is balanced in the back with about 20 230gn .45 lead slugs in a ziplock secured in a single pistol pouch.  It works just fine....

My take on the lightweight helmet. I took a Protech skate helmet painted it and installed the new four point harness.

Yeah, both of these are origonal shells, with reproduction liners and chinstraps.

I have an origional "find" that I dug up in Koln Germany, back in 1992, I'll post up some pics soon.

Mitchel pattern is reversible from green to a brown camo. getting harder and harder to come by.

I have always wondered about using one of those, especially with a visor.

Placeholder here.

I have a few.  A refurbed M1 of WWII vintage.  A Vietname-era paratrooper helmet (but with a modern paratrooper chin strap).  A late-80s PASGT.  And my newest: an XL ACH with a Woodland MARPAT cover.  I knew some Marines were using the ACH, but I had no idea the cover was available.  And, yes, it is a real one––EGA is in the pattern.
