Quoted: I have to ask, aren't you afraid the colored shotgun shells on your chest make you more of a target?

Not when all I am shooting is paper and steel targets. My "fighting rigs" for SHTF/anti-zombie use have rifle and pistol mags in the same location as that vest. A shotgun isn't my first choice as a fighting long gun, and I wouldn't want to carry all 3 guns at once (too much weight)
If color is a concern for concealment or lower profile, the shot shells themselves are the problem not the method in which they are carried. Get Green or Black shells maybe?
Your other options if you don't want the shells exposed are
1) dump pouch: slow to load from and rattles like a big bag of skittles while you're running
2) Shot shell cards that go in AR mag pouches, which at minimum take twice as long to load off of.
3) Covered Shot Shell carriers: Slow to use, and the user ends up just folding the panels out of the way for easier access anyway.
I would use these methods if you are concerned about the shells getting dirty/and or damaged while you are carrying them. It's a good idea to carry them in several different ways (I also use a dump pouch to top off my carriers, and side saddle when I have a chance).
If you are using your shotgun as a fighting long gun, you are likely doing it at close distances where the enemy will quickly identify you anyway. If a shotgun is your fighting long gun I would be more concerned about being able to load it fast and efficiently, than the gear you wear making you more of a target. Most of the people using shotguns for real these day have large white or yellow letters on their vest identifying who they are anyway.
