I find that Khaki, tan, and Coyote brown all work extremely well in just about any evironment short of a SE Asian or South American jungle.

'Woodland' isn't a good desciprtion because an Eastern US hardwood forest will often be different than a western US pine forest and so on, but most 'woodland' areas have a lot of brown in them. There's usually a lot of green along breaks where there is more underbrush, but there is usually a lot of brown/tan at ground level when you're actually under the tree cover. And when there's a bunch of underbrush you're supposed to stay in/behind it, not out in front of it where everybody can see you.

tan matches more things than green.

Generally, lighter is better than darker but in this case I would say a coyote type brown would be more suitable than a tan or khaki...if it has to be a solid color. Multi-cam looks really good but it is expensive right now. The best camo I have for wooded (central) Alabama is a nice faded set of woodlands. |

I couldn't see khaki working as well as OD or coyote in east Texas pine forest. Everything in those woods are brown, green, or gray.

To me the woodlands especially fadded woodlands stick out like a sore thumb. YMMV RemMan |

Just remember, your not trying to look like a tree/bush. Your trying to look like something other than a human/person. Coyote & khaki do that VERY well, regardless of the backdrop/surroundings. They are very hard for the human eye to focus on, and dont make sharp edges very well. Also, dont count out sunlight. Its a big factor. Much of what the sun hits, turns very light green, khaki/tan, etc.

I've found that OD works much better then woodland. Then I figured out that tan works just as well if not better. Think about hunting camo. How much green is on it? Not near as much as your browns and tans.
