Pretty happy with how it's turned out and I've got less than 200 bucks into it. Got my old trusty police model for HD and took this in on a very favorable trade on my end so figured I'd get a couple projects out of the trade. Have a Mesa tactical saddlerail en route and couple other odds and ends but it's pretty much done. Can't decide if I want to cerakote the saddle in FDE or not but love the Patriot brown and FDE scheme on it.

I'm really happy with it so far. Have a cheek riser coming as well and will probably throw on one of my old rds and be done with it.

Looks good should last much longer.  Have a 12 GA pump I cerakoted that rides full time on the ATV in all weather seasons and has been abused for years it is doing great.

Any input on whether to leave the saddlerail black or go with patriot brown or FDE?

Still have it and the cut down vent rib barrel. They're for sale, got no need to hang on to them.

I like it.  I really want to do an 870 rebuild project just like this.

Just sold the old wood furniture for 30 bucks so I have that much less into this thing. Not counting gift cards I have 145 bucks in the gun. Cheapest gun build/project I've ever had lol

I was very unhappy with my mesa saddle on my mossberg. It would lose retention of you stored shells in it (pure craziness for a saddle) hope you have better luck with it.

Did you swap out the rubber tensioner piece? I'll leave the shells in there for a while and see what happens but St least it'd be an easy/quick fix

If you Google this issue there is info on it. Basically manufacturer says take shells out for a while or you can get the new type inserts if you have the old. From what I saw they will send you new inserts for free but I don't know about shipping charges.

To me it is a compression issue over time and the rubber will decompress once shells are removed.

That looks great man!!!  I have the same shotgun and love it.  I am a big fan of the Mesa side saddle.  You can put a micro red dot on the rail.
