I know there are a couple of places that will take an old 2 3/4" 870 barrel and make it a 3" barrel.  Who does that work and what are the prices for the service?

They'd be reaming out the chamber to take the unfolded crimp of a 3" shell.  Given you can get new & used 3" bbls w/ Rem choke tubes for probably not much more, why bother?

I know.

This barrel was made in '67 so I figured it would be a nice addition to the collection.  Plus, I got the barrel for free.

IM sent.

Lengthening the chamber to 3” is going to be much cheaper than the average new or used barrel price.

As you probably know you do need a 870 receiver capable of handling the 3” shell (in addition to the chamber work) if you want to shoot 3” shells. Is your your receiver marked MAGNUM as part of the name or does the serial number end in M?

Yep it takes the 3" alright. (TWSS)
