11-87 takes magnum loads as well as regular.

??? so does the 1100, only difference is it doesn't work worth a shit with the 2 3/4" shells.

The 11-87 has a self regulating gas system on anything with a 24" or longer barrel, that means it can handle both standard 2 3/4" and 3" shells.
The 1100 has a fixed gas system.  If you get one with a 3" barrel it has 1 gas port and will be unreliable with anything other than 3" magnum shells, if you get one with a 2 3/4" chamber, the chamber has 2 gas ports and works fine with standard shells, but obviously you can;t use 3" shells.
