Afternoon,

A friend wanted to get out for early goose this year and I was thinking about jumping a few spots where locals hang out to see if we could get a couple sometime later this week.

However, his only shotgun is a SPAS-12.  Doesn't seem like quite the appropriate level of choke for Canada geese.

I was going to lend him an 1100 in 20ga that I have for the hunt.  The only issue is I've never shot steel out of its (factory) chokes before.  It came with modified and full IIRC, I was thinking the full choke with shot size 1 or larger depending on what I can find on short notice.  I'm assuming it's good to go, but can someone confirm?

Thanks!

Remington.com support. Many Rem Chokes are good for steel. The full chokes rated for steel are bronze in color.

That's the weird thing.

That's the choke I have - except mine does not say STEEL OR LEAD.  I would take a picture, but my cell cam is blurring the text too much.  But basically picture that exact choke less the last three words - "REMINGTON [3 DOTS] FULL" on a stainless finish.

The manual is silent on it as well.

Perhaps I'll have to call but I wasn't sure if we had an expert here.

Brownell's also seems to imply that they're all good for steel, except the trap chokes:

But I guess I shouldn't gamble on that.

Just wish Rem's customer service was open when I called.  Guess it'll have to wait for tomorrow.
