Hey,

Got this:

www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/product_info.php/products_id/95077

Capacity: 7 + 1 says Bud's.

www.remington.com/products/firearms/shotguns/model_870/model_870_express_synthetic_18inch.asp

An ideal 12-gauge utility gun featuring an 18" fixed Cylinder choke barrel, single front bead sight, non-glare matte finish, and choice of 5-shot or 7-shot capacities.

Mmmkay, the magazine should hold 7 2.75" shells.

I only can get 6 and a half in.  What gives?

The magazine tube has a dimple that goes all the way around:

I am on crack?  Too weak to shove that 7th one in?

Or is Bud's wrong and it should read 6+1?

Lemme know, I'm trippin'.

Kevin "Disappointed."

I think the 18" 870's with mag extension only hold 6 rounds in the tube. My 20" barrel setup holds 7 in the tube. That groove in the end of the extension is where you line up the screw hole for the mag tube clamp. That groove allows for clearance for the screw.

Buds isn't real accurate on some of there descriptions.  You basically need to know the specs. of the model prior to ordering.

The 18" (probably actually 18 1/2") holds 6+1.

The 20" holds 7+1.

I think the problem is Buds misrepresentation in the ad.

Remington 870 Express 12g 18" blued, black-synthetic

FWIW, Remington states "total shots" as 7 on their site for the 18" BBL "Tactical" 870 with mag extension. On the other hand, it's listed as a "7 shot extension" on their LE site, so I can see how it could easily get confusing.

My non-LEO marked 870 Magnum Express  (which was significantly modified by the previous owner) will hold 7 + 1.  I tried it out this weekend.  Too much fun.

Depends on if you are loading 2 3/4 inch shells or 3 inch shells.

Mine 870 Express Magnum 18 inch w/factory extension tubehold 7 + 1 2 3/4 or 6 + 1 3 inch shells.

Hope this helps.

The ones I have had were only 6+1. Pissed me off too as I thought they were 7+1.

The 6 shells that you inserted wouldn't per chance be Sellier & Bellot 2 3/4"?

In the unfired state, they are actually somewhat longer than normal 2 3/4" shells from other manufacturers due to a difference in crimping technique.

This could affect your overall magazine capacity.

Nope.

Was using the Saf-T-Trainers and TAP 2 3/4" Buck.  6 1/2 is all I can stuff in there.

I doubt anything will change when I put in the Scattergun tech follower and spring...
