After the last shot fired in an 11-87, does the bolt lock back in an open position? or does one have to cycle it by hand to chamber the first round?

Yes it has a bolt hold open.  You have to hit a button on the feed ramp to get the bolt to go forward.

operates exactly like a 1100 but the action is differnt i think oh well yeah an 11-87 does have last round hold open
