I'm new to the whole shotgun thing and I just got a new shotgun last night, a Winchester 1300 defender, and the box of shells I got has these numbers on it.

Gauge -12
Inches - 2-3/4 [I'm guessing that goes with the numbers stamped on the barrel.]
Oz. shot - 1-1/4
Shot - 7-1/2

3-3/4 DRAM EQ.

And on the shell itself has

7-1/2

3-3/4 1-1/4

What does the 3-3/4 stand for?

Quoted:
Gauge -12 = the gauge of the round

Inches - 2-3/4 = the length of the hull when it is fired

3-3/4 DRAM EQ.= the pressure/speed of the round when compared to the old black powder loads

Oz. shot - 1-1/4 = the weight amount of the shot

Shot - 7-1/2 = the size of the shot (the larger the number, the smaller the pellets)

To give you an idea of a trap/skeet load,

12 gauge
2-3/4" length
2-3/4 dram EQ
1-1/8 oz
7-12 shot

Ahhhh. Thanks
