I need some opinions and feedback on the Mossberg 9200 shotguns-Reliability, Durability,etc.? Thanks.

Have only heard bad things.

Jams alot, and not very reliable at all.  I have been told this by 5 or so people that have had them.

What are you planning on using the gun for?

Mossberg seems to have a real problem when it comes to semi-auto shotguns.
The don't build their own semi-autos, preferring to buy imported guns, and sell them under their name.

They introduce a gun, list it for a year or so, discontinue it, introduce a new gun, only to dump it in a year or so.

Just since the early 1980's Mossberg has sold the following semi-auto shotguns:

The Howa-made Model 1000, which along with the Model 3000 pump they took over from S&W after they dropped them.

9200

935.

It appears that the longest period of time Mossberg has ever sold a model of semi-auto shotgun has been less than 3 years.

That does not inspire confidence.

I had a 9200 Jungle Gun. I added a Choate mag extension, sling. Ghost Ring Sights. It worked great when I owned it. I traded it for something else. But I never had a problem with it. But they were discontinued, so I don't know how available parts are now.

Spare parts could be found at some outfit in Kansas, I think.

I really with I had my 9200A1.  If I find another at a reasonable price, I'll be picking it up.

Yes, I always wanted the "jungle" model, but the only two I ever saw in person on dealers racks allready had a brocken/missing charging handle. I couldn't bring myself to buy a product that breaks before it even leaves the show room.

I also have a 9200A1 Jungle Gun.  Great gun!  I've equipped it with the Choate mag extension, Giles sling,  Vang Comp safety, 7 shot side saddle from 3 Gun Gear, Streamlight M3 and mount, and Mossberg factory ghost ring sights with a Meprolight tritium front sight.  No jams at all, and it goes bang every time I pull the trigger.  I even shot a few clay pigeons with it last weekend.  I had to manually cycle the bolt for each shot, but it was still fun.

That is the sad truth.  I've been searching in vain for a gunsmith that would be willing/able to deactivate this feature..
