I have and love the pimped out, black, tactical shotties, but I would like to see some plain fighting shotguns. I just bought a 1970's model 870 Wingmaster Police and I am going to refinish the steel and furniture. There is just something about the look of a classic riot gun. Let's see some for inspiration.

This the kinda thing you're talking about? 1952 Rem 870 Wingmaster with extended mag, and 1977 Mossberg 500ATP-8S.

There we go. Those are beautiful. That 870 looks just like mine. Is there a place to look up Remington serial numbers to find out a date?

I believe Remington's website has that information.

Damn, you just had to do that didn't you. I have been thinking of doing the same thing with my 870. Mine is a Wingmaster with 18" barrel and +2, but I have the same shell carrier and a Wilson +1 in my parts bin. It would be very handy with the 13-14" barrel.

Dammit I need to post pics of the Remington 870 Police Magnum I picked up last week. It really is a cool gun as-is, but I added a mag extension and have ordered a Speedfeed tactical stock and forend to put on it. It's got a beautiful dark gray parkerized finish, and it appears to have hardly been shot, let alone carried around in a patrol car.

The funny thing is when I have posted this pic of my NFA shotty before, I've had guys sayin'....

"DUDE GET A STOCK SET ON THAT THING!!!"

Shoot!  I fell in love with the WOOD!  That's why I bought it.  It has that Old School Law Enforcement flavor to it!

The original riot shotgun, though not in the standard configuration. Winchester 1897 cut down to "18.

Hard to say.  For a defensive type weapon, 14" is ideal.  But it's kinda like having a 14.5" barrel on an M4.  $200 dollars for a few inches is just silly.  I'm not even a big Shotty fan at all.  I just kinda fell in love with it.

I had an Ithica Police shotgun with the same handguard/lug setup.  It was marked TPD (Tampa Police Department).  I don't work for TPD.  Got a letter from Ithica to validate it.  I sold it.

Don't have any photos.

I'm at work now.  I'll take some photos of our shotguns.

Sweet!
Too bad modern pump shotguns don't have the same take-down feature.  Makes for perfect low profile storage.

I kind of dig it.  I have been toying with the idea of extending the magazine, but it would require a lot of work!  Cutting and welding kind of stuff.
